Traveling? Healthy Snacks To Pack

Now that we’ve covered what the top tips are to stay healthy during summer travel, I’m sharing some of my favorite snacks to pack. Some of the items below are great for snacks while others are perfect for light meal options. Either way, be sure to put some of these on your grocery list before you head out for your next trip.

Foods that are great for breakfast or a snack include:

Snacks + Miscellaneous Items

  • Epic Bars – made with real animal protein, similar to jerky
  • Jerky – a current favorite is Tanka sticks; make sure the jerky doesn’t have sulfites
  • The Omnibar –  a new find since being in Missoula and a local product!
  • Mary’s Gone Crackers
  • Homemade energy bites – think your favorite nuts & seeds processed (in the food processor) then mixed with honey (sub brown rice syrup for vegan option), stevia, vanilla and any other flavors you enjoy like cacao nibs, coconut flakes, cinnamon, etc. (use scoop to place into bite-size chunks or spread into square and cut into small bars).
  • Homemade trail mix or nuts and seeds – favorite nuts & seeds with large coconut flakes and cacao nibs is a super fast go-to recipe
  • Rice cakes
  • Packets of nut butter
  • Greens superfood powder like Amazing Grass Green Superfood – of course fresh is best, but when you know you won’t be able to get fresh veggies in, this item can be helpful
  • Stevia-bottle or pouches; pouches are convenient as you can stash them in multiple locations – laptop bag, purse, car, etc.
  • Tea and/or instant coffee; I’m not a huge fan of instant coffee but occasionally when I’ve been on trips, I’m grateful that I’ve brought it or that one of my sisters packed it

Epic-Protein-BarThere you have it…a list of items you can grab at the store, stash in your pack, and enjoy on your trip…feeling confident that these snacks are high quality fuel for your fun! Most items listed can be found at Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage or Whole Foods.

I packed many of these for my trip to Missoula before I left as I didn’t know when I would make it to the store. Luckily, Missoula has Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage as well as The Good Food Store which resembles Whole Foods very much.

I’d love to know where you’re headed this summer…let me know in the comments or hit me up via social media! Also, do you have any favorite snacks that aren’t listed here? I love discovering new foods to try!
